Marjan hill is a forest park located in the western part of Split peninsula. On the hillside of Marjan lies the town of Split and it visually does give an impression that the Marjan hill embraces and protects this ancient city. Marjan is covered in a dense Mediterranean pine forest which is the main reason that the citizens of Split call Marjan "city lungs".

This beautiful park of nature is 178 m tall; the highest point Telegrin rises 178m above deep blue sea and offers a view of the entire city, the surrounding islands Brac and Solta, Ciovo peninsula and he nearby mountains Kozjak and Mosor.

Walking or running tours around Marjan are one of the favorite pastimes of the inhabitants of Split. In this article am going to describe 1. walking tour on the north side of the hill - from North gate to Bene bay. This tour starts at the North gate, where you can walk down the road or jogging trail through the forest. In both cases, you are going to pass by the First, Second and Third Water which are the names of the first three bays on your way. After approximately 1800 m you will get to the bay of St. Benedict or popularly called Bene. In this small cove, facing northwest you will find a restaurant with a spacious terrace, several sports fields and a few children's playgrounds. During the summer in the Bene bay you can find a water slide for the children's entertainment, and the bay is full of swimmers.
